Time and Place
Meeting in CO339 at 6:30 on Wednesday, 6 July, being the first Wednesday of term. The Executive and those wishing to observe will adjourn to another room for the duration of the meeting.
Agenda
- We will almost certainly have to respond to the response from NZCS. If their response comes soon enough that a draft can be produced before the meeting, then we can discuss and potentially approve this draft at the meeting. Otherwise, we can discuss our response, and nominate a member to produce a draft.
- Determine how we will address the recent failure of some of the SWANS equipment, including the access points covering the undergraduate labs and Memphis. This may be covered by NZCS's response, if they have chosen to fund our purchase of access points. Otherwise we may wish to purchase new gear from our own funds.
Approval of reimbursement to Donald for the WRT54G access point that is used to provide SWANS access at Interface meetings, and also in Memphis since the equipment failure.
- Approval of reimbursement to Donald for renewal of the interface.org.nz domain name.
- Discuss formation of an Events Committee to plan and arrange Interface events such as talks and so on.
- Hosting seminars for NZOSS?
- Draft usage and administrative policies for the Interface user machine(s). We will need to address:
- Who is eligible for an account. How long does this eligibility last. Is there an additional fee beyond Interface membership. For this, we may wish to differentiate between shell and email access.
- What level of service will we provide. Will there be limitations on disk or network usage. Will any usage be subject to fees. What process will we use for determining what software is to be installed.
- What level of reliability will we attempt to ensure, and what will we disclaim.
- Who is responsible for administering the system. What process will we use for transferring this authority when administrators leave.
- What, if any, restrictions do we wish to place on our users beyond the university's Information Systems Statute.
- How will we go about enforcing these restrictions, and what we will do if they are broken.
- Based on our decisions above, determine what we want to request from the school to make this possible, and appoint a member (probably Donald) to negotiate this.
- Arrange to do something for Software Freedom Day?
- Discuss our application to VUWSA for funding. Ensure that an audit is organised in time.
- ACM Programming Contest.
