DavidHall will give a brief talk about the code behind the Interface IOpenCD.
I (DavidHall) gave a talk on the IOpenCD on the 10th of September, to an audience of around 14 Awhina postgraduate students. It was pitched for an audience who did not necessarily know what the CD was, why it is useful, or what programs were included on the CD.
One of the points I brought up was that the CD itself could be easily modified to suit custom versions for particular groups of students. Given that customisation is easy, it makes sense that a simple updating of the programs on the CD should also be easy. In this MiniTalk, I will aim to demonstrate how someone can go about doing this. There are a few subtopics that may be applicable in this talk:
- How to update a single program to a more recent version
- How to add a new program to the CD
- What goes on behind the scenes
- The program browser script
- The LaTeX book generation script
- What we could do to make it easier to modify the CD
