Planning for potential InstallFest for Trimester 2 2006.
http://installfest.org/ has some useful information.
- Date: Saturday 15th July
- Time: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Location: CO341 (this has been booked for 9:00 am – 7:00 pm to allow time for setting up and clearing up).
Needful things to be coordinated
- Live network port in location, and access to Citylink or other Debian mirrors.
- phone access to check modems
Notice in Salient
- This needs to be organised in good time; last time we didn't get a notice in in time for publication.
- Announcements in lectures
See the AdvertisingInLectures page
Needful things
- Spare keyboards, mice, monitors, power cables
- Power strips
- Extension cables
- Linux, BSD etc. CDs / images
- Computers with CD writers
- Blank CDs (how many does Interface currently have?)
- Installation helpers who can be at location on date at time
- We didn't have enough people to help with installs last time, so we need to encourage more members to come this time.
- Some idea of what distributions helpers can support
- Is anyone interested in installing anything (Net/Free/OpenBSD/Solaris) other than GNU/Linux? Are we likely to have anyone wanting such operating systems installed?
- Ethernet cables and switches
- Server for network installations?
Needful things to be created and approved
- Disclaimer form
- Posters
It was planned to make a completely new design, but this didn't happen. Instead, the old design was updated: see http://user.interface.org.nz/~andrew/files/interface_installfest_2006_2.svg.
Alternate version with vectored logo: http://user.interface.org.nz/~gringer/interface/interface_installfest_2006_3.svg.
- Updated version of FOSS guide from clubs' day?
