Meeting opened at 1805 18/03/09
Agenda
Interest from members wishing to join the Executive Committee (exec)
Daniel Atkins - decision differed (awaiting clarification of interest)
Date for rolling over membership
The membership of all members to expire two weeks from meeting (1 April), with the notification being sent to the announce mail list. At this time all SWANs accounts will need to be disabled/re-enabled as membership is received. A new SWANs policy needs to be drafted up before this time[, which will be discussed on the exec mail list], and agreed to by all renewing members.
Vote - unanimously passed
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server
Currently we do not have any channel operators (chanops) for #interface and the channel is not registered with the channel service (chanserv). Agreed that channel operators should the interface system administrators (sysadmins): We will need to contact Sitherus, the current server admin, which the secretary will do. [After logging in tonight, the channel is registered with the chanserv with the owner being Donald Gordon, we should contact him to add sysadmins]
Changing meeting day
A question was raised regarding whether Wednesday night is still the best time for our members to meet. Need to survey members, via the announce email list, which days are prefered. This will be performed by the secretary.
Current state of sysadmins
We currently need replacements as most of the current sysadmins have either left university or in the process of doing so. New sysadmins need to be members of Interface and require approval from exec and no objections from the current sysadmins.
Neil stood to become a sysadmin: Vote - unanimously passed minus Neil, who could not vote on this.
General Business
Events and talks
- Linux installfests should be dropped in favour of just coming to a reguar meeting and receiving assistance from there.
- Any formal talks, from people 'downtown', should be done in conjunction with the Victoria Engineering Club (VEC).
- Another LAN should be organised in conjunction with the People's Republic of Memphis (memphis):
- All attendees must understand that they are still bound by student conduct (at all times) and Victoria University's network policies (only on external traffic through SWANs). [We reserve the right to remove (or have removed) students who act in abusive/disgraceful manners]
